The contents of the form are sent to the server. The server formats the contents of the form into an e-mail message which it sends to webmaster@firesoffriendship.com.

Upon receipt, the keeper of the directory will edit the contents of the form into the Directory page. If there are any questions, the keeper will contact you by e-mail, if he can!
One of the more common problems we see is that the e-mail address provided does not work. This often happens with AOL addresses, perhaps for the following reason, extracted from http://postmaster.info.aol.com/trouble/mailer.html

550 username IS NOT ACCEPTING MAIL FROM THIS SENDER
This error indicates that the AOL Member has configured his account, possibly inadvertently, to only accept mail from certain addresses and/or domains on the Internet. Using Mail Controls he will have to modify those settings to receive mail from you. AOL Postmaster can not override these Member defined settings. We respect Member's privacy and their ability to control their own mail. Postmaster cannot forward the mail for you.

If you are an AOL subscriber, and you wish to be listed in the Alumni Directory, please ensure that your address is configured to accept e-mail from your Fires of Friendship friends. If mail to the address is rejected, we will have to remove your entry from the Directory listing.
About the Directory

The internet is a public place. By placing your name and e-mail address in the Directory, you are advertising this information globally. We want you to be aware of this.

We have had very few reports of abuse of this information. Nevertheless, many people choose to publish a transient e-mail address (such as HotMail, Yahoo!, etc.) to protect their private or business e-mail address from receiving unwanted e-mail.

We maintain a mailing list to enable the Fires of Friendship Alumni Association or the Taylor Statten Camping Bursary Fund to contact you by e-mail or postal mail with news of special events.
  • We undertake to keep these messages infrequent.
  • E-mail announcements are sent in such a way as to conceal all the recipients' addresses.
  • You are always be able to opt out of the mailing list.
  • We will never share this list outside our Association.
  • We will never display your postal address or telephone number on the internet.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions on this topic, we would be pleased to hear from you. Just drop a note to the directory keeper.

We invite you to explore the Directory. Say you were a camper in the 1980s; you can search for other campers who listed themselves in that decade. You can refine the search by the initial letter of the family name (which includes maiden name). You can refine the search by which camp is listed. Unfortunately, we do not know exactly which years people were at which camp. However, filtering the Directory as described will give you a short list you can scan visually. You may recognize the name of a long lost friend, and rekindle that fire of friendship.
